"In 2011, Dr. Starr joined Forsyth to direct the Institute’s Epidemiology and Biostatistics Core. The core supports all Forsyth researchers study design and analysis questions raised through their basic science and clinical oral health research. She and colleagues specifically address methodological questions relating to oral microbial ecology, school-based caries prevention programs, associations between systemic conditions and periodontal disease, and predictors of early childhood caries. As an independent investigator, Dr. Starr's research focuses on the epidemiology of congenital craniofacial conditions. For eight years she collaborated at Seattle Children’s Hospital. This has given her broad expertise in many areas of clinical epidemiology including studies of genetic and non-genetic risk factors, health care delivery, quality improvement, development of diagnostic tools, and outcomes."
