Summary:

Ultrasound, which is also known as sonography, is a painless, non-invasive imaging technique that lets us look inside your child's body without the use of radiation. It uses high-frequency sound waves to create pictures of organs, bones, tissues and blood vessels.

  • Acuson Sequoia 512 ultrasound ( Ultrasound machine )

    Ultrasound Division has 9 instruments located in its 3 centers.

    Features state of the art imaging quality and capabilities, including spectral and color Doppler, harmonics, compound imaging, extended field of view, and contrast agent detection.

  • GE Logiq E9 ultrasound ( Ultrasound machine )

    Ultrasound Division has 1 instrument sharable between its 3 centers.

    Features state of the art imaging quality and capabilities, including spectral and color Doppler, harmonics, compound imaging, extended field of view, and contrast agent detection. A full range of transducers are available including linear, phased, curvilinear, vector, endocavity and 3D/4D. Transducer frequencies range from 2MHz to 15MHz, offering the widest range of resolution and penetration available.

  • Philips IU22 ultrasound system ( Ultrasound machine )

    Ultrasound Division has 3 instruments located in its 3 centers.

    Features state of the art imaging quality and capabilities, including spectral and color Doppler, harmonics, compound imaging, extended field of view, and contrast agent detection. A full range of transducers are available including linear, phased, curvilinear, vector, endocavity and 3D/4D. Transducer frequencies range from 2MHz to 15MHz, offering the widest range of resolution and penetration available.

  • VisualSonics Vevo 2100 ultrasound ( Ultrasound machine )

    Dedicated animal laboratory space, (Kresge Laboratory) includes Ultrasound services. Smaller animals are imaged using a dedicated laboratory unit: VisualSonics. Transducers range from 25-40 MHz. Imaging capabilities include power Doppler and 3D functions.

  • Ultrasound/sonography access service ( Access service )

    Provides researchers access to imaging acquisition using ultrasound instruments. Includes on-site technologist. Researchers must have IRB and protocol approval by the Department of Radiology at Children's Hospital Boston.
